“To be part of a collaboration is to be part of a family....every new show provides me with one, It may be a temporary family, but it always gives me a solid sense of belonging to something outside of myself.”
ABOUT US
We are an educational performing arts program, created and run by a team of certified educators, dedicated to maintaining a space for our students to explore and learn the arts with a supportive community. While we hold ourselves and our students to a high standard of professionalism as theatre artists, our top priority is helping our students gain confidence and build positive relationships through their involvement in the performing arts. As students who grew up in the performing arts, we have not forgotten how instrumental arts education was in shaping the adults that we are today, and we strive to provide this for our students. We believe in learning by doing and value growth, hard work, and positivity. We pride ourselves on the philosophy that everyone is a star in their own right and deserves the chance to shine. We maintain the idea that everyone should have the access and opportunity to experience the performing arts - regardless of skillset, background, or identity.Supporting students as whole children, not just as actors in our productions, is among our most important values as a team. Our goal is always that our students emerge from our programs with meaningful friendships, a love for the performing arts as an outlet and a safe space, and a love for themselves. We pride ourselves on cultivating a culture in which every one of our students feel valued, celebrated, and loved both on stage and off.
FAQ
Q: How are the production fees utilized?
A: The production fees collected cover the costs of performance and rehearsal venues, the performance rights and materials, and any additional expenses that may be necessary for the production.
Please note: We never want money to be the reason that a child does not participate in our programs. If you are experiencing or beginning to experience financial hardship, please reach out to us to discuss alternate payment options or scholarship opportunities.
Q: Where does fundraising come in?
A: While the production fees collected cover the production essentials, it does not necessarily cover anything “extra” that may be seen in a production.
Any fundraising done will directly benefit the show at hand; whether it be through technological advancements (i.e. the rental of microphones, lighting, etc.) or through other theatrical aspects added to the production (i.e. specialized props, set pieces, costumes, etc.)
Without the help of fundraising, a production would remain rather “bare bones” in its final form. While the focus on show essentials and the talent on stage is enough to make for an excellent show, we want our students to experience as many of the “bonus” additions to their production as possible!
We also believe that, through student/familial involvement in raising money for and creating these additions to the productions, our students gain a better understanding of the value of all aspects of theatre, and of teamwork, collaboration, and community.
Q: How are casting decisions made?
A: Casting decisions are made jointly by the production team
Once we have announced cast assignments, no changes will be made. We never like to hear that a child was disappointed in the role that they received but we are confident in our ability to place each child in the appropriate spot where they will have the best chance to shine and will not make changes as a result of parent or child emails, phone calls, etc. If your student is disappointed with the role that they received, we ask for your support in helping them understand that every single member of our cast is an important part of our team and that we need them in their given role to make our show the best that it can be.
While we realize that every child may not get the role they were hoping for, please be assured that every child will get the role that allows them to shine the brightest. We also make it a priority to give every cast member special moments to be featured within scenes and musical numbers and to have everyone in the cast on stage as much as possible.
Q: How can I get involved?
A: See our Upcoming Events page for more information on what’s next and how to join in on the fun!
